" I met Tiff a few years ago when we worked at the same organisation. She was on the path to becoming an Occupational Therapist at the time, and so after she left, I continued to stay in touch and follow her journey on the ‘gram’. At the end of 2018, I was diagnosed with depression, anxiety and adjustment disorder as a result of work-related stress. It was the most terrible time and there are months that I am not able to account for – I was in a delirium of overwhelm, stress and insomnia. How I managed to keep going and look after my family still puzzles me? I was put on medication for depression, was under the care of a psychiatrist and started psychology visits every 2 weeks. I was unable to work for over a year. This was stressful and overwhelming. After the first few months of struggling with daily life, I contacted Tiff after seeing one of her beautiful recipes on Instagram. I asked if she might be able to help me and I bought her E-book (Beating Chronic Disease – 12 Ways I Healed Naturally) before we had our first phone consultation. I always admired Tiff’s positive outlook and healthy lifestyle but didn’t realise that she’d had some serious health struggles a few years earlier. It’s true that a lived experience with any type of illness can create enormous insight and empathy for others going through a similar experience. I really had no idea as to how she would be able to help me, but I knew that I had to do more, and make more effort to try and get myself back to where I was. After our first face to face meeting, I felt like I had some more tools to help myself. The thing with depression is that it’s hidden. No one can see when you’re not well; and when people ask are you OK, you just say yes because it’s the path of least resistance. You learn to ‘fake it’. The truth is though, that faking it is hard work and sometimes you feel totally helpless. Tiff showed me some light at the end of the tunnel. She gave me real things to do, things that I had control over to change that helped me to feel better. Over a period of time, our sessions became amazing chats about improving mental health, physical health, diet and even sleep. She helped me to build resilience and acceptance. Her help truly has been central to my recovery. I now have so many tools and strategies that I can use on a daily basis to deal with stress, anxiety and overwhelming thoughts and I can see how they will help me well into the future. Ten months later, I’m doing better, feeling better and I thank Tiff for playing her part in my return to health. She is a wealth of knowledge, a caring soul and an inspiring teacher. “I am a 37-year old health professional who has a happy life, good job that I love, exercise regularly and have a supportive friendship group BUT I have had difficulty sleeping for some time and was never waking up feeling rested, I was also having problems with pimples and break outs. I decided to contact Tiff (The Wellbeing Movement) about her free session and see if she could help me. During the introductory session Tiff asked me a series of questions to explore what’s happening in my life to contribute to my issues. “I suffered from lower back pain since I was 20-years old. It wasn’t until I was age 28 when I was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis and Ankylosing Spondylitis. My rheumatologist prescribed me with anti inflammatory tablets and I had to take them every day. Tiff encouraged me to change my diet and lifestyle in various ways and she taught me about anti inflammatory foods. It took two solid months of sticking to these new habits until I noticed a decrease in my pain. I then slowly decreased my prescription tablets. I am now age 32 and I don’t need to take any medication as I am pain free. I do occasionally veer off the diet and lifestyle habits Tiff taught me but my body certainly reacts to it by pain reoccurring in my back. I can’t recommend Tiff’s coaching enough. “When I first came to see Tiff, I was a mess. I had recently come out of hospital for a Crohn’s flare up and felt like I’d failed for ending back in there. I was super weak, skinny, an emotional wreck, and making simple decisions like what to eat for breakfast would freak me out. Tiff intuitively picked up where I was at and coached me through the really tough bit and gave me lots of little tools to get me healthy again. I still use these every day. Now, eight months later, a recent colonoscopy showed a much more settled, nice pink gut, with promising signs of healing. No Crohn’s ulcers!
